Centennial Farms and Orchard, Augusta

Location: 199 Jackson St, Augusta, MO 63332      636-228-4338

We went to this farm on a Monday and walked around. We never encountered a living soul except an old dog. The website said they were open during the week daily from 10-5 so I'm not sure what happened.

The nice thing about this place is that it is completely free. The website states that their "farm theme play area is geared to children three to ten. There is a play fort with slide, climbing wall, grain bin, straw tunnel and many photo opportunities."

This is obviously the play fort with slide, but I never saw any climbing wall, grain bin, or straw tunnel. There's not much you can do in this fort except go down the slide. I emailed them and asked them where the other activities were in case I just missed them but she said they were absent this year due to a horrible crop. She said they normally have those activities but this year they had to cut some things out of the budget. I feel bad for them! I guess the late frost earlier this year really affected the apple trees. Hopefully they'll be offering more kid fun next year.

The store had some nice selections

This is a working farm so you can pick apples and pumpkins here during September and October. This place was charming but there was just nothing here for my daughter to do. We went to Aholt Farms next, it was only 5 minutes down the road and they had a ton of kids activities going on. Since they're close together you might want to visit both of them.
