Pacific Community Park, Pacific

Location: 707 W. Congress St., Pacific MO 63069

Website: http://www.pacificmissouri.com/265/Parks-and-Recreation

Amenities: Pool, pavilion, soccer fields, baseball fields, 2 playgrounds, and fitness trail.

The city of Pacific has some issues. First of all, there is no official address for this park and it's a little difficult to find (707 W. Congress is the pool address, which brings you here so I'm using that). Second, there is no park section on the city's official website. Some places list it as the Pacific City Park, and some places list it as the Pacific Community Park, so I'm not even sure of the correct name. If you go to Pacific's Facebook page you will find people complaining about these things. However, if you can get past that, this is a nice park.

When you first come into the park you will see the public pool. This pool isn't huge, but it's open to anyone and it's cheap! It's open 12-8 adults are $3, and kids are $2. Near the pool is a merry-go-round, some baby swings, and 2 slides. As you drive you'll see lots of ball fields and a concession stand, I'm sure this is a busy place when kids are playing ball.

The playground near the pool is just slides, a merry-go-round, and 4 baby swings.

The sand pit looks like it used to be a sand volleyball court.

The playground at the back of the park is much larger. There are lots of things to do here, including 2 baby swings, 4 sling swings, a balance beam, bridges, drums, a puppet stage, a rock wall, and a spider web climber. There are 2 different play structures, one for older kids, and one for younger kids, with lots of things to climb on, slide down, and enjoy.

Bathrooms

There is fitness equipment sprinkled throughout the park.

Very large pavilion next to the playground with BBQ pits and electricity.

This is a great playground, and it looks to be fairly new. It features one baby swing and one sling swing, a big rock wall, some modern teeter totters, and various other activities on the big play structure. The bathrooms are really nice and clean as well. Not a lot of shade but plenty of benches. The playground is located near the Dogwood Pavilion.

Bigfoot 4x4 Inc, Pacific

Location: 2286 Rose Ln., Pacific, MO 63069

Website: http://bigfoot4x4.com/blog/visit-the-home-of-bigfoot/

The original Bigfoot began as a 1974 Ford F-250 pickup that was modified by its owner Bob Chandler beginning in 1975. By 1979, the modifications were so extensive, the truck came to be regarded as the first monster truck. He also was the first to do "car crushes" that are so popular now at Monster Jam shows. Bob is a St. Louis native and their Bigfoot shop has been located in Pacific since 2015. Kids LOVE posing in the 10 foot tall wheel well! You can go to the shop and pose for photos with the famous truck as long as it's in town. It's frequently on the road doing shows so call first before going to make sure it's here!

Kids love to play in the wheel well

Here's a great article detailing the history of this famous truck and its team.  Check out their Facebook page for events, they have car-crushing events throughout the year.

The Bigfoot truck is parked at the B&H Market in Pacific if you want to go get a photo in the wheel!
