Oak Knoll Park, Clayton

Location: 1 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton, MO 63105

Website: http://www.claytonmo.gov/Home/Components/FacilityDirectory/FacilityDirectory/14/314

Playground Ground Cover: Poured Rubber

Oak Knoll is a very picturesque park with a rich history (you can read it in detail on their website). It's the second biggest park in Clayton and includes a beautiful little lake with a fountain in the middle and is home to turtles and ducks you can feed, a sunken garden, and lovely walking trails. Also on the grounds is the Clayton Early Childhood Center. You enter the park off of Big Bend and the playground is visible from the parking lot. This playground was redone in 2014 and it's much better. The design mimics nature- there is an acorn you can crawl in, logs, turtles, snails, and a canoe. They have a saucer swing, modified merry-go-round, and musical instruments. It's an inclusive playground and completely fenced-in. The playground is nice and shady and we love strolling around on the trails and feeding the ducks as well. I didn't see a bathroom there but there are 2 buildings nearby that might let you use their facilities.

Shaw Park, Clayton

Location: 27 S Brentwood Blvd., Clayton, MO 63105

Amenities: tennis courts, ten ball fields, two playgrounds, two sand volleyball courts, picnic shelters, walking/running paths, outdoor aquatic center, outdoor ice rink

Website: http://www.claytonmo.gov/Home/Components/FacilityDirectory/FacilityDirectory/16/314

Playground ground cover: Rubber Mats and astroturf

The "treetop" playground at Shaw Park is located near the north parking lot. The playground is completely fenced in (with gates to exit the play area) so kids cannot run away. The "treetop" name comes from a treehouse play structure. The playground is designed for all kids to play, with adaptive swings, and ramps up to the play structures. It is in full sun, and it was built in the fall of 2010. There are shade structures over the benches for parents but none over the playground area. The sprayground is on from 9 am to 8 pm during the summer months.

The teeter-totter replaced the musical instruments that used to be here.

The sensory garden is beautiful and worth exploring.

The playground below is located near the south parking lot and the tennis courts. It was installed in 2021. It's a Berliner and it's super fun with lots of play sculptures and geodomes with planar nets.

Covered pavilion with grill and restrooms next to the playground
