The St. Louis Wheel at Union Station, St. Louis City

The St. Louis Wheel™ is a 200-foot high observation wheel with 42 fully enclosed, climate controlled gondolas that seat up to six adults each. (Colossus at Six Flags is 180 ft. high) Wheel passengers will take three to four rotations high over the St. Louis skyline during the 15-minute ride. The St. Louis Wheel™ is a new iconic attraction on the St. Louis skyline and will be operational every day of the year. You can park in the lot or on the street at a meter. We went on a Sunday and got street parking right in front of the wheel and didn't have to pay anything. Score!

You have to wait in line to buy tickets then wait in line to get on the wheel (all outside). We waited about 15 minutes total for everything, it wasn't busy the day we went. At the beginning of the line there are people taking photos of you in front of a green screen that you can purchase after your ride.

The gondola is mostly glass. My stomach was doing flip flops! It doesn't go very fast but man it's kind of scary at the top.

Fun fact- The High Roller in Vegas is currently the tallest wheel in the world at 550 ft. tall.  I paid $35 to ride the High Roller at night (it's cheaper to ride during the day).The London Eye is 443 ft. tall. so this ranks at about the 4th tallest in the country, tied with the wheel in Pidgeon Forge which is also 200 ft. tall. 

After your ride you can explore the train shed at Union Station, they have added several things in 2019 including a carousel, mini golf, ropes course, mirror maze, several restaurants, and the aquarium. The carousel is $5 per child and $5 per adult.

The mini-golf is $10 per person. The course is kind of plain. Most other mini golfs in the area cost about half that. Here are all the mini golf courses in town. The only indoor courses are Chesterfield Sports Fusion and the Sheldon (seasonal).

The Soda Fountain was hopping when we were there. We have heard lots of buzz about their "freak shakes". Here is a photo from their Facebook so you can see it for yourself.

The Mirror Maze costs $8 and it takes about 5-10 minutes to find your way out. 

The rope course is 3 stories tall, costs $15 per person, and you get 30 minutes to explore.  Included in this is a 30 ft long zip line. There is a mini version of the rope course very low to the ground for kids under 48" and that costs $5 per person.  

This is Sky Tykes, you can see how low to the ground it is. 

The playground is cute! Lots of little train lovers will love it. There is a rock wall, a slide, a bell to ring, and an area underneath to crawl around in.

The fire and light shows on the lake are beautiful and not to be missed if you're there at night. The multi-million dollar breathtaking fire, water, and light music show features a 100-foot long waterfall with 50 nozzles that spray water 40 feet down into the lake. Lights will turn the water into a variety of glowing colors accented by the icicle lights decorating the surrounding trees. Get ready to see and feel the explosive power of the lake’s fire feature during the show. Eight lotus-shaped pods on the lake shoot flames 25 feet into the air. The dancing lights, water, and fire features are set to music to create a sight and sound spectacular that is sure to impress.
The wheel looks amazing at night with over 1.6 million LED lights!
