Millennium Park was a great playground but they made it even better with a complete renovation in June 2024. This $2.5 million project features a new playground that is 1.6 times larger than the old playground area and the new splash pad is 2.5 times larger than the old one.
Old playground and splash pad
New playground and splash pad!
The restroom building is still the same
The splash pad is still enclosed with a fence and a gate, and it's on concrete. There are a variety of sprayers, buckets that dump water, pop jets, and a cute chameleon. It's bigger and has a larger variety of things to manipulate the water with.
The playground is huge and has so many fun things, including a horizontal roller slide, rock walls, cool webbed climbers, a musical instruments area, spinning seats, a modified merry-go-round, activity panels, a pretend window, a cute car you can pretend play in, an adaptive in ground spinner that accommodates a wheelchair, a spinning tower, and tons of slides, bars, and poles.
That white house in the background is the historic Tappmeyer house, which you can tour if you're interested. It was built in the 1880s. Read more about it
here.
There is 1 baby swing, 4 sling swings, 1 adaptive swing, and 2 modified expression swings.
