The Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center is a great facility for the entire family. My toddler loved the splash playground and could even go down the smaller of the 2 slides on it. She also got a kick out of sitting on my lap while floating around the lazy river. Older children will love the slides and diving boards. Another nice feature of this facility is that the lockers require a quarter to lock them, but you get the quarter back when you open it back up. The facility is half price for both residents and non-residents after 5 pm, so if you only plan on swimming for an hour or two, show up after 5 and you don't have to pay as much.

Cons to this facility include the layout of the pools - you have to walk halfway around the lazy river to grab a tube and then walk back around to the entrance to the lazy river (although you can often find an empty tube left next to the entrance to the lazy river as well). Also, the large slides are not close to the rest of the pools so in order to watch someone going down the slides you have to walk to the far end of the park.

You can see this area has a zero-depth entry which is nice for the little ones.

Unfortunately, the 2 big slides and lazy river were not open when we were there due to a mechanical issue. My kids were bummed.

The concessions menu was a bit limited but the prices were great.

Sunset Park, Festus

Location: 816 Parkview Dr., Festus, MO 63028

Website: https://www.cityoffestus.org/Facilities/Facility/Details/Sunset-Park-18

Playground Ground Cover: Wood Chips

Sunset Park is located between North 5th Street and West Main Street, near City Hall. The park has been used by generations of area residents and is considered a local landmark. Nestled among 100-year-old soft maples and white oaks, the park features:
  • Basketball court with two goals
  • The covered bandstand with asphalt and grassy seating areas
  • Playground equipment
  • The recently renovated lighted ball field facility features one regulation softball/baseball field with a covered wooden grandstand and two regulation softball/baseball fields with bleacher seating
  • Sand volleyball court
  • Single and double tennis court
  • Wooded bird sanctuary with our ever-popular picturesque stone arch bridge

3 baby swings

5 operational sling swings and 1 broken one

I would use the term playground lightly, it's just one climbing structure and 1 spring animal. In another area is an old-school teeter-totter.

McCullough Park, Festus

Location: S. Adams St., Festus, MO 6028

Website: https://www.cityoffestus.org/Facilities/Facility/Details/McCullough-Park-South-Adams-Street-16

Playground Ground Cover: Wood Chips

Situated along the eastern limits of the City, which is directly behind Festus Main Street, South Adams Street Park includes land reclaimed from areas that were once flood-prone. This park provides a medium-size pavilion, playground equipment, and small fields that can be used for baseball, softball, soccer, and other activities (adjacent to McCullough fields).

Restroom building

The covered pavilion is next to the playground

There are 2 baby swings and 2 sling swings.

There is one play structure and it has a bridge, a tic tac toe board, several slides, a maze board, a bench, a rock wall, and some bars and poles.

The free standing fire truck is pretty cool, and it rocks.
