Florissant Valley Park, Florissant

Location: 1 James J. Eagan Dr, Florissant, MO 63033

Playground Ground Cover: Wood Chips and Sand

We went to this playground on a Sunday and there was no parking spaces open at all. And there is a TON of parking, so bear that in mind. This is a very happening place. Located in this park is the James J. Eagan Civic Center which is an indoor recreation center with a gym, an indoor pool, fitness center, ice rink, game room, rental rooms, and a movie theatre.

There are 3 sling swings and 1 baby swing in one area, and the playground is a little ways away.

Up the hill from the playground is this cool airplane. The plane is an F-101 "Voodoo" and was built in 1958 at McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, now Boeing, according to an information display near the aircraft. The Air Force donated it to the city of Florissant in 2004, where it has remained on display as a memorial to honor veterans from the north St. Louis County area.

There is just one play structure, and it has 3 different slides, a balance beam, a magnetic race car board, and monkey bars. There's no benches to sit on and no restroom. You could walk over to the civic center but it's not exactly close.

The civic center

The playground is circled in red. You can see the huge parking lot and the civic center at the top.

Inside the civic center is the indoor pool. It has 6 lanes and (2) 1 meter diving boards.

Champlain-Florval Park, Florissant

Location: 1570 Queens Dr, Florissant, MO 63031

Playground Ground Cover: Sand and Grass

This really isn't much of a playground. There are 4 sling swings and one play structure. It's metal and identical to the one at Lynstone Park in Sunset Hills. I don't think this playground is appropriate for kids under 5.

Arnold Rec Center Outdoor Pool, Arnold

Location: 1695 Missouri State Rd, Arnold, MO 63010

Website: http://www.arnoldmo.org/government/departments/parks-recreation/rec-center/aquatics/

The pool is open Monday thru Sunday from 11:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Kids 4 and under are free and everyone else is $6. For me and my 2 kids (4 and 6) it was only $12 to swim all day! This pool was really nice and I'm so glad we got to check it out.

The only negative thing we experienced was there was a ton of rude kids there. Every few minutes we'd get caught in the middle of a water gun fight, or someone would kick me as they swam by, or splash us in the face. I think it's just the nature of a busy pool but it was annoying. It has been 100 degrees every day this week and it was definitely busy!

My kids were too short for the yellow slide but they loved the blue slide and went down it repeatedly! No part of the pool was deeper than 4 ft, so it was perfect for my kids ages and swim abilities.

You can manipulate a bunch of wheels and levers in here. My daughter dumped a big bucket on water on herself unexpectedly, it was pretty funny!

Splash pad area and zero entry area for the littles

The indoor pool is circled in red, it's right next door to the outdoor pool

This overhead photo was taken when the pool was empty, but the lazy river circle is at the right with 2 inlets for people to sit and relax in. The splash pad is in blue all the way at the left and the big bowl slide is at the bottom right.

The Edge Aquatic Center, Ellisville

Location: 225 Kiefer Creek Rd, Ellisville, MO 63021 In Bluebird Park

Website: http://www.ellisville.mo.us/285/The-EDGE-Aquatic-Center

Amenities:
  1. 8 Lane Competition / Lap Pool
  2. Bathhouse
  3. Children's Splash Pool
  4. Concession Stand
  5. Infinity Edge Waterfall
  6. Slide
Normal pool hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. every day.

This is a medium sized facility, which is great because you don't have to walk too far to get to anything. Their prices are good too, a day pass for non residents is not much at all. This tot time is really well suited for toddlers and babies, because there's no deep water at all and it's got a soft surface. It's really just a huge splash pad. There's a large variety of jets and sprayers.

Here's the rest of the facility if you want to do an open swim. This outdoor aquatic center opened in 2008 and replaced the City of Ellisville’s aging traditional pool. The facility features an 8-lane competitive pool, two one-meter diving boards, a zero-depth entry leisure pool with a unique vanishing edge, and underwater benches. A separate play pool has interactive play features.
