Playground Ground Cover: Wood Chips
Ackert Park was renovated in early 2023. The playground was no longer up to code so it was ripped out. U City used a grant and improved this park tremendously with new lights, railings, covered pavilions, and a unique new splash pad!
Old playground
The new playground is a turtle, frog, and arch on astroturf. But the real draw here is the splash pad.
These sea lions are very old, from the 1940s! This was originally a fountain but over the years it broke, so they filled it in with landscaping. They ripped all that out and turned it into a very cool splash pad. They added lots of benches for parents too.
