Kiener Plaza, Downtown St. Louis City

Location: Bounded by Market St, 17th, Chestnut St, and Broadway, St. Louis, MO 63101

Website: https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/parks/parks/browse-parks/view-park.cfm?parkID=50&parkName=Kiener%20Plaza

Playground Ground Cover: Poured Rubber

They completely renovated this space and it opened in May 2017. The new space is more kid-friendly with a small playground and a splashpad. The splashpad fountains dance and light up at night. It's smaller than Citygarden, 2 blocks up, but still fun.

The playground is completely fenced in with a latching gate, and pretty colored poured rubber.

The activities include a saucer swing, a wide metal slide, a wooden log-style climber with rope netting, and some wooden ride on animals.

There were tons of business people here walking around and eating lunch. There were metered parking spots all around the block but no restrooms except for a port-a-potty.

Great photo ops here of the Runner Statue, the Arch, and the Old Courthouse!

They have nice new drinking fountains and water bottle refillers too

Juanita Park, Shaw Neighborhood, St. Louis City

Location: 4000 block of Shenandoah, St. Louis, MO 63116

Website: None

Playground Ground Cover: Poured Rubber

This is not an official St. Louis City Park so it's not on their website.  It's tucked in the middle of the block on what I presume was an empty lot. I wish I could find some history of it online! The sign looks like the kind the city uses.

The park is partly shaded and has some benches and one play structure.

It has several slides, a small tunnel, some pretend windows, and lots of bars and poles.

There are no bathrooms here but there are several businesses nearby including Ices Plain and Fancy!

The playground is circled in red

Greg Freeman Park, St. Louis City

Location: Des Peres Ave and Kingsbury Aves, St. Louis, MO 63112

Website: https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/parks/parks/browse-parks/view-park.cfm?parkID=100&parkName=Greg%20Freeman%20Park

Playground Ground Cover: Poured Rubber

The park was named after Greg Freeman, a St. Louis Post-Dispatch writer who was beloved throughout the city. This was done in August, 2009 after he died in 2002. It's a small park but it's completely enclosed with a latching gate! This park is one of 3 in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood and they have concerts on the stage next to the park in the summer.

This playground only has one play structure but it's a good size. It has a bridge, tons of bars and poles, and some slides. There are some benches but no restrooms or drinking fountains. However there is Joe's Cafe around the corner with a huge chicken out front that may have restrooms (plus a photo op).

Rainbow Park, St. Louis City

Location: Taylor and Gibson, St. Louis, MO 63110

Website: None

Playground Ground Cover: Poured Rubber

This is not an official playground of the city of St. Louis, so it's not on their list. I can't find anything online about it so I have no idea who takes care of it or claims ownership. It's not much of a park, there is only 1 bench, no bathrooms, and no shade. However it is completely enclosed with a gate so that is great for little ones who like to try to escape!

There is one play structure and it has lots of bars and poles, a bridge, several slides, small tunnel, rock wall, and tic tac toe board.

Lucier Park, St. Louis City

Location: Hamilton and Westminster, St. Louis, MO 63112

Website: https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/parks/parks/browse-parks/view-park.cfm?parkID=71&parkName=Phillip%20Lucier%20Park

Playground Ground Cover: Poured Rubber

This park is named for Phillip Lucier who was the president of Continental Telephone Corp. One day, he and two telephone company vice-presidents, James Robb and James Napier, had decided on the spur of the moment to have lunch at the St. Louis Club. No one knew they were going there. He ended up being the victim of a mob hit gone awry. His car was bombed when he was mistaken for another person who had a run-in with a New Orleans mafioso. The crime was never solved and the FBI botched the case. He was a wealthy, influential business man with 11 children.

This park is mostly just open green space and one playstructure. It's in full sun and there are no benches which is odd! I like to sit down while the kids play.  There is a port a potty but I'm not sure if it's a permanent structure or just there while Ameren does some pole work.

The play structure is a good size with a rock wall, fish climber/tunnel, bars and poles, slides, balance beam, and chain climber.

There's another playground in the background at Hamilton Elementary.
